Sunday 6 Sept
This is the next event we'll be having a stall at. It's a shame they never want us to do a contest at it as people always ask. Maybe we we should start an email campaign to get them to include a strength contest. Are you going to attend? If so pop along to the stall & say Hi.

| Yes i will be there too , look forward to seeing you all. I E-mailed the organisers and asked them to reconsider having a strengh competition as it was really good at Bristol fayre and it is a good advertisement for how one be very fit and healthy on a vegan diet. Hope they reconsider as it was a good laugh !! | |

| I don't like to be negative but very much doubt it.
Same old faces, same old stalls. I don't really buy many products at the fayre's these days, nor much food.
I find the fayre's boring these days... | |

| Nothing stopping you holding an unofficial and impromptu event outside of some description. | |

| Well it's worth a try, & them getting a few emails might make them think that maybe they need some changes? Getting a few variations of speakers & a contest would add a bit of spice to the show I reckon! You can email them at robandal55@googlemail.com & you never know! (I do have an ace idea for a talk that would be both informative & painful ) | |

| I always thought a chin-up/pull-up comp would be a good test of strength if you could put one of them portable bars up somewhere. | |

| If I knew anyone in London with the stuff we might consider it. One issue would be not too many people can do many chins & only a few women I know can do them at all (although they can learn, I've taught plenty). I suspect if we were doing a any sort of chin/pull-up contest that John would leave his fortress in the North to show us 'Southern Jessies' how those Barbarians from the colder regions do proper pulling If the equipment was there & we had some interest I'd be up for putting on something like that. | |

| Yeah, not the easiest of contests and not very inclusive for the general have a go on the day folks as they are difficult if you don't do them at all/often. Just thinking that maybe you ought to try new stuff rather than the same old, same old though appreciate it's not easy coming up with contests that are open/appealing to all fitness levels, getting equipment transported and set up etc. | |

| It can be an issue. One year (after much badgering) we did organise a serious vegan strongman event at the Bristol fayre, but once we had the basics in place they all dropped out. It caused us a few problems as we'd promised an event, then had to seriously back-track. I prefer things that we can drum up people on the day. If we ran a more difficult event it would probably be with an easier event, say we got a pull-up event, we could do a pull-up/push-up event as we'd get numbers of entrants for the push-ups, but the more athletic might want to do the pull-ups (which would be a much shorter event I reckon). That would seem the way to go if people wanted tougher events...but again you'd need a core group who were up for doing it before you could plan stuff like that...but yea we're certainly open to sorting out stuff if the demands there. | |

| Finally managed to get it together to finish the webpage of yesterdays festival. We had an ace day & you can check out how it went here. Unfortunately my camera died, so I had to rely on photos by other people, so thanks to them, especially Rachel who took the contest winner shots. If you could take time to check out any of the sponsors of the contest that interest you as it's through their generous support that we keep the contests going, so go & support them if you can! Oh yea, contrary to the rumours circulating at the festival we are not organising a cage-fight between Rubber Ritchie & Dave Straitjacket at the Christmas Without Cruelty show..as it's supposed to be 'without cruelty' we didn't think it was fare to put poor Dave in a cage to get mauled by the man/beast cum rock god that is Rubber Ritchie, it just wouldn't be right To prove my point here the lad himself in all his cod-pieced glory (with my good self trying to get a few tips of strutting my stuff from the master)...would you fight him...I think he'd enjoy it too much | |
