I like London a lot, but feel like I'm two weeks out of training, hotel room push ups to the contrary. Probably more, counting prep time.
Managed to stay vege, if not vegan, but found it difficult to get enough roughage. My impression on this trip is that the average Londoner eats only slightly better than does the average American. We both need to improve our diets.

Good to be home again, but My Lady and I are already planning our next trip.

I could have given you quite a few good places to eat at (including an old-style London bus that's a restaurant & serves vegan food! - here it is ), beetroots is quite popular too. I think there are at least a dozen eateries in London that are vegan or veggie/vegan, plus loads more that have options.
Hope you had a good time on your adventures. I'm considering taking some more training certifications which could involve travels to the US in 2011, so I might get to your side of the pond before too long ...if things fall into place ok?

I should mention that we were based in South Kensington. so food was matter of odds and ends from the Waitrose supermarket, and the shops near there, most of which were to our advantage. On the whole our diet was good.
One of the things that deters me from a totally vegan diet is cheese. The seledtion at Maitrose's cheese section reminds me of Monty Python's Cheese Shop sequence (which catalogues cheeses far better than the cheeses available in the U.S.)

It is possible to request a veggie or vegan meal on long airline flights,
but don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.
I was served some sort of bean-like thing, a package of soda crackers, and what might have been a muffin or a cupcake. And ginger ale to drink.

I suspect that the rest of the passengers were served fish heads and potato peelings.

Not very vegan - but that remark reminded me of a song I heard when I was young called fish heads by Barnes and Barnes

I would have put up the video, but as it is mainly a load of fish heads in weird settings I thought this might not be the best place for that! You can always go to youtube if you are interested in hearing it

Not sure this is the correct lyrics, but actually I was thinking of fish heads with smiling mouths--they're better that way, or at least more cheerful.

Barnes & Barnes Fish Heads Lyrics:
Fish Heads- They Might Be Giants

Fish heads fish heads
Roly poly fish heads
fish heads fish heads
eat
them up, yum
(repeat)

In the morning laughing happy fish heads
In the evening floating in the soup

[Chorus:]

Ask a fish head
anything you want to
they wont answer they can’t talk.

[Chorus:]

I took a fish head
[ Find more Lyrics on http://mp3lyrics.org/aBw ]
Out to see a movie
Didn’t have to pay to get it in.

[Chorus:]

They can't play baseball
They don't wear sweaters
They're not good dancers
They don’t play drums

[Chorus:]

Rolypoly fish heads are
never seen drinking
capachino in Italian
restaurants
with oriental women
Yeah~

Fish heads fish heads
Roly poly fish heads
fish heads fish heads
eat them up yum [x4]
