| Although this study was about physical activity & cancer, it also included research results from the big German veggie study & mentioned an interesting point, people who are physically active have lower mortality rates: The bold was added by me & PA means physical activity - Quote :
- The German vegetarian study. In a 21-year follow-up of a cohort of 1,225 vegetarians and 679 health-conscious non-vegetarians (PI: Prof. Dr. J. Chang-Claude, C020) we contributed to the question whether there are interactions between the protective effects of diet and PA. As this group of participants shared a relatively homogeneous dietary behavior it was interesting to find in internal comparisons that a moderate or high level of PA reduced overall mortality compared to less active persons. This might be an indication that the protective effects of PA are independent from diet, a question that has been raised by several expert panels as important question for further research (Chang-Claude et al., 2005).
So basically get physically active if you want to live longer! | |
