| Naan is a relatively simply-made bread from India. Naan accompanies many Indian meals, and can be used as a "utensil" to fold around the food while eating. But simple though it may be, I’ve always had difficulty making naan well-cooked but still tender--too often my naan comes out leathery. Recently on The Fresh Loaf web site, a home-baker who signs in as gothicgirl has posted what sounds like a real winner naan recipe. I haven’t tried this yet but gothicgirl appears to have done a good job with this, and I am looking forward to trying it next time I make curry.

Gothicgirl’s recipe does call for milk and ghee (clarified butter), so you may wish to experiment with substitutions to make this a vegan dish.

| You can buy vegan Naan bread so there should be a fairly easy switch you can make? | |

| Probably water and olive oil could replace the milk in the recipe, and the ghee could be replaced with olive oil.
I may be making bread tomorrow, if so, I'll try this recipe. It should go well with a mushroom and potato curry.

| Well, yeah... the naan was better than my usual. Also better than some I've had in India, But not quite as good as some I've had in London, which has more Indian restaurants than does New Delhi.
But not the fault of gothicgirl"s recipe, I rushed the preparation.
