Crispy Tofu Fingers
This is a really easy recipe that you can flavour however you like. I make this (occasionally) when I’m feeling like hot savoury junk food. I don’t measure anything, I just add a bit of this and that until the marinade tastes good.
Ingredients
- Firm/very firm tofu well drained, patted dry, and cut into about 4cm strips (you can also freeze the tofu and thaw out beforehand to make the tofu more chewy)
- Finely crushed corn chips, potato chips, or bread crumbs
- Dry seasonings: any or all of the following to taste: savoury yeast flakes, chilli powder, garlic powder, dried herbs, cumin, mustard powder, ginger powder etc
- Wet seasonings: any or all of the following to taste: Tomato sauce, BBQ sauce, tamari, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, plum sauce etc
- Oil for frying
Method:
1. Mix your choice of wet and dry seasonings to make a thick, sticky marinade.
2. Marinate the tofu for at least 2 hours or longer.
3. Cover the bottom of a fry pan with a oil and heat to medium-high.
4. Roll the marinated fingers in the crumbs to cover.
5. Fry the fingers until crispy and golden.
6. Yummy!
