...according to the FDA they are! What the hell are they up to when a crisp (potato chip in the US) maker can put 'heart healthy' on their packaging , but not a walnut grower? There are dozens of studies showing that walnuts are actually heart healthy & the omega-3 found in them does actually affect cancer rates. It's as near to proven as modern science can achieve! So why oh why are they mucking people about making statements like walnuts are drugs - do I have to do find myself a 'dealer' down a shady alley to get my walnut 'fix', it's madness!

I might go to my doctor later & see if I can a prescription of walnuts

But it's FOX news. Owned by Murdoch you know. Forever ranting about evil big gubmint. Possibly severely slanting this story.
(Which isn't to say that the FDA isn't corrupt. FOX news wouldn't necessarily have to slant the story. They just have to make sure to not mention that big gubmint is corrupt because it's weaker than corporate power.)

For once the news is accurate if you check at the bottom of that post there is the actual FDA letter it does say that making health claims means that walnuts are a drug!!!
