Hey there! I frequent veganbodybuilding.com and veganfitness.net, and always love meeting new folks who are vegan and as passionate about fitness as I am. ^_^

I've been vegan past four and a half years. I'm a software engineer, have my own place with my two cats to keep an eye on me, and am also a writer. Sample hobbies/interests/obsessions include traveling, science fiction/fantasy, wine, RPGs, jewelry making, anime, and knitting. I'm more than halfway done knitting a Doctor Who scarf. Yes, I'm insane.

I've managed to get back into my fitness nut roots this past March. Since then I've dropped about 25 pounds, lots of inches, and am slowly developing ab definition I never knew I could have. I started out working out to the Slim in 6 program, graduated, then did two rounds of Brazil Butt Lift and Hip Hop Abs before starting the Insanity fitness program a month ago. I'm currently in the recovery week before I begin Month 2 next Monday. At some point I hope to combine it with P90X or a similar program. I have amassed a nice dumbbell collection and just recently graduated to the 15 lb weights for most exercises, 10 lb for triceps and delts.

Favorite vegan food is falafel. Mmm, falafel. <3 My two vices remain: chocolate and red wine. A close third is fries, and that is a rarity these days.

Okay, ending before I turn this into a book. Yay vegan fitness bodybuilding wooooo!

A Doctor Who scarf eh? That's really cool. I remember searching online for one years ago. Hmmpf. Can't remember why I didn't get one. Maybe this winter...

...how long is that taking to knit by the way?

Welcome BlueRose. I also like sci fi/fantasy. Robin Hobb is my favorite fantasy. Check out The Farseer Trilogy someday if you haven't already.

All you need to know is knit stitch for it, and wittylittleknitter.com has the pattern I'm using. Very Happy

I've worked on a bit of it every day--I've alternated between reading fitness mags and working on it during my commute. I'm saving it for a crafts gathering this weekend to finish it up. Very Happy

Oh nice! Very Happy And thanks for the welcome.

I am FINALLY onto S2 of Supernatural. I am infamous for jumping on board late or too late to a show...

Hi BR welcome onboard. I'm more into sci fi than fantasy stuff (at the moment I'm working my through Peter Hamiliton's Confederation series).
A friend of mines small son really got into Tom Baker era Doctor Who & actually bumped into him in London, he also has a DW scarf, & went up to him & said "Would you like a jelly baby!" (he actually had jelly babies) - how classic is that!!!!

I actually helped start the veganfitness messageboard many years ago now from the old (& still active) vegan bodybuilding yahoo email list
Looking forward to you posts

...your sig by the way. "rational romantic mystic cynical idealist."

Reminds me of a few things. Erich Fromm calling himself an atheist mystic. http://webspace.ship.edu/cgboer/fromm.html
Think of myself sort of that way. (Although the mysticism is largely subconscious). Your sig seems to recognize this contradiction which I think is in everyone to some extent, though rarely admitted.

Also reading a book about Pink Floyd just last week, was mentioned about Roger Waters being a misanthropic socialist.

Anyway just thinking about such contradictions myself recently. Smile

It's a quote from a Rush song, and I find it very apt in describing myself. Very Happy

Good news, BlueRose, chocolate and red wine aren't vices, they are food-groups.

I'm a country boy and have often said that I couldn't live in a city,
but maybe Boston and Cambridge.
I could learn the T-routes and how to sail on the Charles.
Good luck on your fitness program.

I don't live directly in the city but in a nearby suburb. I work in downtown Boston, however. The T routes aren't so bad but the Red Line and buses have been wicked unreliable as of late.

And thanks! Finished my first round of Insanity and now finishing my second week of a hybrid P90X/Insanity program.
